Who we are

Calton View is run by Phil and Sandra Mowat, who manage the apartments on behalf of their owners. You can contact us about your data at info@caltonview.com.

What we collect and why

• Your name, email address, phone number and the names of your party, to make and manage your booking and to contact you about your stay.
• Your bed set-up and welcome drink preferences, so the apartment is ready for you.
• If you tick the box on the booking form, your name and email address so we can send you an occasional email about returning-guest offers and festival dates. The box is unticked unless you tick it, we never pass the list to anyone else, and you can stop at any time by replying to one of those emails or writing to info@caltonview.com.
• Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
• Booking dates and amounts, which we must keep for tax and for Edinburgh Visitor Levy returns to the City of Edinburgh Council.

Who sees it

Your contact details are seen only by us and our cleaner for the purpose of your stay. The owners of the apartments receive booking dates and figures but never guest names, email addresses or phone numbers. We use Stripe for payments, Supabase to store bookings and Resend to send emails, all under contracts that protect your data.

How long we keep it

Booking records are kept for six years after your stay to meet HMRC and Visitor Levy requirements. Your preferences and contact details are deleted or anonymised after that.

Cookies

When you first visit we ask which cookies you are happy with, and we remember your answer in a cookie called cv_consent for six months. You can change it at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer.

• Essential cookies are always on. They keep a booking in progress while you pay, keep owners and staff signed in to their portals, and let Stripe run its fraud checks during checkout. The site does not work without them.
• Optional analytics cookies are only set if you choose Accept all. They would tell us, anonymously, which pages are useful. We do not run any analytics today, and we never run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or, where we no longer need it, delete it. Email info@caltonview.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
